Inspector Eric Ringer (originally played by Hugh Jackman in telemovie #12, Afraid Of The Dark) is Head of Homicide, head-hunted to rejoin Victoria Police after an impressive career with the Feds in Canberra. Although part of the attraction was to come back to Melbourne to be closer to his three kids who live with his former wife, Ringer is seen as a potential candidate for Chief Commissioner. But Eric is the first to admit that everything is on the line. If he fails to stop the Torture Killer, then any promotion is as good as dead. He doesn’t like being single – and hopes that Jane might feel the same. But will he be able to put his obvious attraction to Jane aside and focus on the task at hand?
