Simon & Schuster Australia to launch Atria Books Australia
Tuesday 18 February 2025 - Simon & Schuster Australia is delighted to announce the launch of new imprint Atria Books Australia.
Launching in Australia in 2025, Atria Books Australia will publish a list of zeitgeisty, thrilling, feel-good and heart-rending books in categories such as romance, fantasy, young adult fiction, mystery and historical fiction. Atria Books Australia will continue to support bestselling authors to soar to new heights, discover and nurture tomorrow’s finest voices, and foster storytelling that strongly resonates with readers across Australia. Publisher Anthea Bariamis will lead the Atria Books Australia imprint, while also continuing to publish titles on the Simon & Schuster Australia list as well.
The imprint draws its inspiration from the success and renown of Atria Books at Simon & Schuster US. Started in 2002, Atria has published hundreds of bestsellers including novels by Colleen Hoover, Fredrik Backman, Hannah Grace, Alice Hoffman, Penn Cole and Taylor Jenkins Reid.
A number of exciting titles are already confirmed for publication on the Atria Books Australia list in 2025, including:
Fangs for Nothing, by Steffanie Holmes (June 2025): A cosy paranormal romance, featuring a grumpy vampire and sunshine human, a meddling book club, a compelling murder mystery – and endless cups of tea.
Slipstream, by Madge Maril (June 2025): A steamy, high-octane debut romance set in the world of Formula 1, featuring fake dating, enemies to lovers, and authentic queer and neurodivergent representation.
A Forbidden Alchemy by Stacey McEwan (July 2025): Australian BookTok star Stacey McEwan’s stunning new slow-burn romantasy duology following a fated pair who stumble upon a world-changing secret in youth and are catapulted into a violent class war in adulthood, finding each other amidst love, loss, and devasting betrayals.
Seven Brides for Beau McBride by Amy Barry (July 2025): The highly anticipated new novel from the beloved author of Kit McBride Gets a Wife, following charming brother Beau, who sets his sights on getting married – but little does he know his sister has meddled into his affairs, and not one by seven brides are coming to win his heart.
Black River by Ruby Jean Cottle (September 2025): The Vampire Diaries meets Shatter Me in a mystical new YA duology that blends fantasy, sci-fi and romance. All seventeen-year-old Dusty wants is to escape into books and the wilderness that surrounds her mountain home in upstate New York – but she doesn’t know that there’s something waiting for her in the shadows of the forest.
How To Break My Heart by Kat T. Masen (September 2025): A cosy and steamy second-chance, enemies-to-lovers romance following a small-town café owner and her best friend’s billionaire brother as they’re forced to work together to plan a wedding.
Anthea Bariamis says, ‘Atria is an imprint I’ve admired for a very long time, and I feel so honoured to launch it in Australia. I’m so excited to grow the Atria Books Australia list and to continue to champion heartfelt storytelling, and I’m so grateful for the support of all at Atria and S&S.’
Ben Ball says, ‘Over the past few years S&SANZ has developed an unrivalled record of identifying highly commercial authors in emerging genres, often in collaboration with international colleagues. Those authors frequently work in fresh patterns and timelines and it makes sense for them to have a home of their own. There’s no better home to offer than one with the magnificent Atria brand on the door, presided over by the equally magnificent Anthea Bariamis: the perfect match.’
The first Atria Books Australia titles will publish in June 2025. Anthea will continue to report to Simon & Schuster Australia Publishing Director, Ben Ball.
