Vote for the G.O.A.T.

About The Book

Two unlikely classmates come together to stand up against unfair school policies—and rescue their kidnapped school mascot—in this heartfelt and funny middle grade novel perfect for fans of Jamie Sumner and Carrie Firestone.

Being the G.O.A.T. (Greatest of All Time) at Somerset Middle School means one of two things: being really popular or being Babette, the real-life goat and school mascot who lives on school property. For Jo, who struggles with befriending humans, Babette is her best friend.

For Jo’s classmate, Meg, being the other kind of G.O.A.T. comes easily as the star soccer player in school. But after a freak injury, Meg goes from tearing up the field to having no distractions from wondering if playing soccer is what she wants to do…or what her dad wants for her.

When new school policies are announced that would compromise what Jo and Meg love about school—the boys’ soccer team getting exclusive rights to the only good practice area on campus and Babette’s current home being sacrificed for a new scoreboard—the girls decide to band together to try to stop both things from happening.

Their best bet is to win the school’s coveted G.O.A.T. title, which traditionally grants the winner one request they can bring to the school board. But Jo and Meg have barely put their plan into action when Babette is stolen and the girls are framed, putting their G.O.A.T. eligibility in jeopardy.

With the help of an unlikely group of classmates, Jo and Meg plan a rescue mission to bring Babette home and clear their names…no matter what obstacles stand in their way.
