Excerpt

From Chapter 2: General Information Prior to Using the Technique

Who can use the technique?

This technique was designed to be both effective and simple to apply. It reminds us of children’s drawings. Which assumes that they are drawn simply, from the heart, without using the mind. That is how it can be used by everyone, whatever a person’s age. The words “stick figures” are used because the arms, the legs and the body are drawn with straight lines, as if I were using matchsticks.

Under what circumstances can I use the technique?

This technique can be used in any situation:

A situation perceived as negative: A situation where I’m experiencing some discomfort, a conflict, a disappointment, an unresolved issue, a frustration, etc. In short, any situation where I want to develop more harmony and well-being.

A positive situation: Though I am happy in my couple’s relationship, in my family, at work, etc., there is always some room for improvement. I may also be experiencing attachment and dependency with the people I love and the fact of doing the exercise will improve the relationship, by increasing my detachment from this person and helping me to tune in to love rather than to my fears and my dependencies.

The 5 essential rules for using the technique effectively

There exist 5 rules that must be strictly followed for using the technique and getting the best results. All the rest is secondary. These 5 rules are:

1. I want WHAT IS BEST FOR ME AND FOR THE OTHER PERSON. (Attitude and intention)

2. Apply the technique GRAPHICALLY ON PAPER.

3. Do the 7 STEPS IN THE SAME SEQUENCE shown in this book.

4. I ALWAYS DRAW MYSELF FIRST, and then another person or a situation. I never do the technique “just for two other persons” without first including myself.

5. Make sure, when drawing the lines of attachment and dependency, THAT ALL 7 OF THEM ARE THERE.

* * *

What materials do I need to do the exercise?

1. A piece of white paper or parchment paper. It is important that the piece of paper be white, not lined or graph paper. If I want to use colored paper, I should use a clear, pale color.

2. Preferably a lead pencil. A ballpoint pen can also be used. Some persons like to use colored pencils to draw the 7 lines of attachment with the color matched to each energy center, but that is optional.

3. A pair of scissors. If I don’t have one, I will tear the page apart with my hands.

That is all! This is what shows the simplicity and the power of this exercise.

Almost all the work is done by my subconscious,

because it is symbolic work.

I just need to allow my brain

and my emotions to do their job.

My subconscious is working in my service!

From Chapter 5: An Exercise to Detach Myself from a Situation

Another way to do the exercise is to perform it with a situation instead of a person, for example the signing of a contract, a meeting, an encounter with a client, or any other activity. It is then a matter of first drawing myself, as previously, and then, instead of another person, simply drawing a rectangle and writing the title of the situation inside the rectangle, for example “my contract with the Good Bread Company Inc.”, then connecting all the conscious or unconscious links of attachment from my energy centers over to the rectangle.

Remember to draw the circle of light around the rectangle just as with a person. And so, a circle of light around me, around the rectangle containing the identification of the situation and a circle of light around the two elements, namely the person (me) and the rectangle representing the situation.

Here are some examples of situations that I could put in the rectangle on the right. As a general rule, I just need to name the situation that concerns me or that I want to harmonize inside the rectangle.

My vacation in Hawaii

I may have conscious or unconscious fears about being able to gather enough money for the trip, being able to free up enough necessary time because of my job or my family obligations, the fear of not finding someone to accompany me, etc. The exercise can partly or entirely remove those fears that might prevent me from carrying out this project.

My difficulties in my current job

If I have issues in my current job, it is because of my conscious or unconscious inner conflicts. Cutting away the conscious or unconscious links of attachment will help me feel better in my job and will enable me to see the situation more objectively.

Obtaining a contract

If I am afraid of not being able to get this contract that could well happen, because for the brain, the solution to the fear of something is that the thing in question happens. This is a brain process that tends to manifest the object of that fear so as to diminish the stress associated with it. The exercise of the Little Stick Figures will tend to eliminate those fears.

In the case of a situation where several persons are involved, for example before a court of justice to settle a situation involving a divorce, I begin by drawing myself, Step 1, and I will follow the 6 other steps with each of the other persons such as:

• Me and my lawyer,

• Me and my male or female partner,

• Me and the lawyer of my male or female partner,

• Me and the judge.

Then, I can do another exercise by drawing on the right side a rectangle representing the whole situation, and writing in the rectangle: “My divorce contract with ……………(the person’s name)

Summary of the 7 steps of the technique with a situation

MY DIVORCE WITH... (name)

1. I first draw myself and write my first name and family name below the figure.

2. I draw the situation and identify it. I can add the place and the date of the event in question if this applies.

3. I draw a circle of light around me (including my first and family names) with the rays.

4. I draw a circle of light around the situation and the explanatory text with the rays.

5. I draw a circle of light around me and the situation with the rays.

6. I draw the 7 conscious or unconscious links of attachment by connecting each of the 7 energy centers on both sides.

7. I cut away the 7 conscious or unconscious links of attachment. I say: “Thanks. It’s done!”

Raves and Reviews

“A magical tool! I send billions of thanks to Jacques Martel for creating it. For years, in my training and coaching sessions, with my friends and relatives, I shared the Little Stick Figures Technique. From the dynamic entrepreneur to the overwhelmed mother, from the teenager to the grandfather--everyone has found a light that has helped them. I would need a whole page to list the types of problems that the Little Stick Figures Technique has helped solve--removing conflicts, regaining self-confidence, calming stress, taking a step back to put things into perspective, looking at situations and/or people in a new light, health problems experienced more lightly, and more! Read this book and be positively surprised by the results.”
