It has been twenty years since Eustace Fargo’s justice bill was passed. There are new weapons on the streets and vast city blocks rising to the sky, as the first human being sets out to visit another star system. New York, California and Texas cry out for autonomy, chafing against a federal government they feel has lost control.

Reeling from news of Chief Justice Fargo’s death in service, the nation asks: has it all been worth it?

CE Murphy began writing around age six, when she submitted three poems to a school publication. The teacher producing the magazine selected (inevitably) the one she thought was by far the worst, but also told her–a six year old kid–to keep writing, which she has. She has also held the usual grab-bag of jobs usually seen in an authorial biography, including public library volunteer (at ages 9 and 10; it’s clear she was doomed to a career involving books), archival assistant, cannery worker, and web designer. Writing books is better. She was born and raised in Alaska, and now lives with her family in her ancestral homeland of Ireland.

Back when they were a child, Zina Hutton once jumped out of a window to escape dance class in the Virgin Islands. Now they're a speculative fiction writer who tends to leap headfirst into new stories and worlds the second that inspiration strikes. Zina lives in hot and humid South Florida where they're never far away from a notebook and/or an iguana. Zina currently works as a freelance editor and writer with publication credits in Teen Vogue, Fireside Fiction, The Mary Sue, Strange Horizons, ComicsAlliance, Polygon and The Verge. You can find the majority of their work at their digital arts and culture publication Stitch's Media Mix and on Twitter as @stitchmediamix

“Each story is quickly devoured, packed with twists and brutal political analogy. This is the rise of fascism, eerily familiar and terrifyingly plausible… this is the Justice Department as The Wire, and it really works.” -- Starburst Magazine
